What is T. vivax?
Trypanosoma vivax is a major pathogen of cattle in sub-Saharan Africa and South America. It is transmitted by tsetse flies (Glossina spp.) and mechanically by biting flies, causing nagana — a disease responsible for significant economic losses in tropical livestock production systems.
Genomic Features
T. vivax possesses a complex genome with extensive gene families involved in immune evasion, including VSG-like gene repertoires. The genome also encodes unique surface proteins that distinguish it from other Trypanosoma species.
Coming Features
The database will include genome browsers with interactive SVG viewers, dotplots for synteny analysis, Circos visualizations, BLAST search tools, and downloadable annotation files in standard formats (GFF3, FASTA, GenBank).
